We are seeking a talented and capable Senior Hydrogeologist and Team Leader for our Metro Vancouver (Burnaby) or Fraser Valley (Abbotsford) office.

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Project Management – planning, coordinating and managing various hydrogeology and environmental investigation projects, including preparing proposals, budget tracking, and progress reporting.
  • Water Supply – completion of well evaluation reports including long-term well yield,
    drawdown influences between wells, assessment of water quality and treatment recommendations. Design and construction supervision of water supply production wells and related activities.
  • Hydrogeological Studies – assessment of groundwater flow direction(s) and gradients, infiltration characteristics, hydraulic conductivity, conceptual hydrogeologic models, and base-flow determinations.
  • Water Licensing – complete Technical Assessment Reports in support of well licensing under the Water Sustainability Act.
  • Drainage Assessments – complete desktop and field investigations to determine drainage conditions and design solutions including infiltration system, interceptions and conveyance or other. Site investigations and design for infiltration of stormwater, septic effluent and industrial wastewater.
  • Construction Dewatering – determine groundwater inflows and total dewatering requirements including lateral and base flows plus incident precipitation. Design appropriate dewatering systems (temporary and permanent), including obtaining permits for discharge and treatment if required.
  • Contaminated Sites – complete hydrogeological assessments pertaining to contaminated sites including contaminant plume migration, control, and/or in-situ treatment. May require computer modelling to determine appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Field Work – scheduling, coordinating and directing various hydrogeological and environmental investigation and remediation field activities. This may include supervision of field staff and/or completing of field activities yourself, when needed.
  • Mentoring junior and intermediate staff to aid in the professional development of colleagues and contribute to the team/collaborative work environment.
  • Administrative activities as needed, including business development.
  • Supporting and advancing the overall growth and success of the company.

The successful candidate will work closely with, and be supported by, our existing team of highly qualified and capable hydrogeology professionals.

The Ideal Candidate

The Ideal Candidate

  • Be an expert in technical support/bylaws for a range of hydrogeological projects and clients.
  • Capable of leading all aspects of these projects, with support from our team, and spearheading business development efforts for our hydrogeology division.
  • Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in geological engineering or geological sciences.
  • Be registered as a P.Geo. or P.Eng. in BC.
  • Have a minimum of 10 years of consulting, academic, and/or industry experience in hydrogeology in BC.
  • Be able and willing to travel regularly to project sites throughout the Fraser Valley to meet with clients, assist with staff training, supervise/conduct fieldwork, etc.
  • Ideally possess some working knowledge of small water supply systems, well design and testing, stormwater and wastewater management, hydrology and water treatment.
  • Be proficient in standard desktop software (Word, Excel, Acrobat, etc.) and be comfortable with mobile apps and cloud-based software.
  • Possess a demonstrated ability and aptitude to:
    • Prepare and/or review technical reports and proposals
    • Work both collaboratively and independently, as warranted.
    • Complete project objectives within schedule and budget constraints.
    • Manage multiple tasks simultaneous and effectively.
    • Communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing.
    • Direct subcontractors in a sound, safe, and respectful manner.
    • Mentor junior staff and contribute positively to the company culture.
